What Happens at Your Checkup & Clean
Your visit is designed to be clear and predictable, so you always know what’s included. Most checkup and clean appointments follow this general pattern:
- A full dental examination to check your teeth, gums and any existing dental work
- Ultrasonic scaling to remove plaque and tartar using a gentle vibrating tip and water spray
- Hand scaling to carefully tidy up any remaining buildup in hard-to-reach areas
- Airflow polishing to lift surface stains with a jet of air, warm water and fine powder
- Fluoride treatment at the end to strengthen your enamel and help protect against decay
Every few years, we may recommend dental x-rays to check between teeth and under old fillings; these are billed separately. Dr. Elias will go over any findings with you in simple language and outline options if something needs attention.
Advanced Technology, Comfortable Care
Your clean uses modern equipment to make the visit as effective and comfortable as possible. The ultrasonic scaler helps remove hardened tartar quickly, which usually means less scraping and shorter time in the chair. Airflow polishing is great for tea, coffee and red wine stains, and is often more gentle on teeth and gums than traditional polishing pastes.
For patients who need x-rays, we have advanced imaging on-site, including an OPG and lateral ceph unit, so there’s no need to travel elsewhere. Behind the scenes, a washer-disinfector and steriliser process your instruments to hospital-level standards, supporting a clean, safe environment for every appointment.
$199 Checkup, Clean, Airflow & Fluoride
To make regular care easier to keep up with, we offer an ongoing $199 checkup and clean special. This includes your full examination, ultrasonic and hand scaling, airflow polish and fluoride treatment in a 30-45 minute, unrushed visit. X-rays are not part of the $199 package and are only taken (and charged) when clinically needed.
