What Really Counts as a Dental Emergency?
Some issues should be treated straight away, while others can safely wait for the next available appointment. When you call, Dr. Elias will talk it through with you, but as a guide:
- Same-day, urgent problems often include: a tooth that has been knocked out or has fallen out, a tooth that is missing or badly broken, severe or worsening toothache, or a cracked tooth that is painful.
- Less urgent problems, which will still be booked as soon as possible, include: a filling that has fallen out but isn’t very sore, or wanting a quick clean when you’re not in pain.

What to Expect at Your Emergency Visit
At your emergency appointment, the first priority is to diagnose the problem and get you comfortable. Dr. Elias will examine your teeth and gums and will usually recommend x-rays so he can see what’s happening below the surface. You’ll then talk through the treatment options, how long they’re likely to take and the costs involved.
